Doula (pronounced doola) is an Ancient Greek word meaning woman servant or caregiver. Today it refers to someone who provides support during pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. A doula provides emotional and practical support to enable a mother to have a positive and empowering experience so that she can enjoy her transition to parenthood.
